ARF Accommodation Require TEA Approval (Formely Type 2) & NAAR Procedures

What We Do

Procedure for Submitting Requests for Accommodations Requiring TEA Approval (Formerly Type 2 Accommodations)

If the ARD committee determines that a student a) is eligible for an accommodation requiring TEA approval (formerly type 2), AND b) needs the given accommodation as evidenced by the accommodation in the student's IEP as one that is used regularly in the classroom, the following procedure should be followed:

1. The ARD committee will document in the ARD/IEP Meeting that “pending TEA approval the student will receive the specific accommodation(s).”

2. The Diagnostician will submit a copy of the ARF Accommodations Request Data form to the Special Education Diagnostician Lead (Marchelle Peters) with the information that is required on the ARF.

3. The Special Education Diagnostician Lead will review the request to determine if the request is within the TEA guidelines for accommodations requiring TEA approval (formerly type 2 accommodations).

4. If the request is approved, the Special Education Diagnostician Lead will submit the ARF to TEA.

5. If the request is not approved, the Special Education Diagnostician Lead will notify the Special Education Director, as well as contact the campus to review the denied request.

6. Once TEA notifies the Executive Director of  Accountability and Assessment, she will process the requested accommodation OR contact the Special Education Diagnostician Lead and the Special Education Executive Director with any questions.
