ARF Accommodation Require TEA Approval (Formely Type 2) & NAAR Procedures

What We Do

If the ARD committee determines that a student a) is eligible for an accommodation requiring TEA approval (formerly type 2), AND b) needs the given accommodation as evidenced by the accommodation in the student's IEP as one that is used regularly in the classroom, the following procedure should be followed:

1. The ARD committee will document in the ARD/IEP Meeting that “pending TEA approval the student will receive the specific accommodation(s).”

2. The Case Manager will complete and submit the ARF - Special Education & ELs  - Designated Supports & Special Administration Approved by TEA  and will be reviewed by Nan Robinson/Compliance Coordinator.  The Case Manager will attach requested data to the google doc for review.

 3. The ARF request will be reviewed by the Compliance Coordinator and/or Coordinator of Compliance for Multilingual to determine if the request is within the TEA guidelines for accommodations requiring TEA approval.

4. If the request is valid and appropriate, the Compliance Coordinator and/or Coordinator of Compliance for Multilingual will submit the ARF to TEA.  The campus will continue to utilize the accommodations that were approved by the ARD committee.

5. The Executive Director of Accountability and Assessment will be notified by TEA  if the request is approved.  Notification will be provided to the campus.

 6.  If the request is not approved by TEA, the Executive Director of Accountability and Assessment will be notified.  The  Compliance Coordinator will contact the case manager and provide direction regarding next steps for the campus in the areas of the IEP accommodations.
