What We Do
- Review campus data with Campus Coordinator, Special Education team and administration (after BOY, MOY, EOY, Benchmarks and STAAR assessments)
- Identify and support campus with accomplishing campus and district annual goal(s) for Special Education as outlined in the DIP, CIP, TIP, & CAP
- Conduct classroom walks using Quality Indicators to determine next steps
- Maintain/Train on classroom quality indicators, program expectations, and provision of services
- Problem solve specific student situations
- Participates in LRE discussions/decisions by making data driven recommendations for services, placement, and support
- Supports teachers in the development and implementation of Standards Based IEPs
- Train campuses on program expectations, service to ensure fidelity of implementation
District Support - Provide district wide professional development to special education teachers and paraprofessionals, general education teachers, and administrators
- Tier campuses to provide support according to student performance on STAAR
- Coordinate Special Education Connection Meetings monthly to provide tools for teachers to use when specially designing instruction
- Works with Curriculum and Instruction to develop the universal design of the curriculum to ensure teachers can adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of the individual learners
- Develop & facilitate Connection Meetings for special education teachers
- Provide campus data with regard to teacher attendance at monthly Connection Meetings
- Identify target students to focus on at the campus level to meet district goals
- Analyze data and upcoming instructional items to determine elements for DC/TL meetings
- Oversee and evaluate teachers, facilitators and/or specialists who support instruction and behavior across the district
- Provides professional development on the Standards Based IEP process
Services Support (based on the Continuum) - Monitor services for fidelity of implementation (based on quality indicators: push-in and pull-out of the general education supports)
- Collect data using quality indicators to monitor compliance aligned to the usage of programs or teaching methodology
- Provide feedback to campus administration/staff regarding program data
- Outline the roles & responsibilities of the program facilitators and campus support personnel
- Develop, oversee, and support the implementation of the special education continuum of services across the district
- Review data, conduct observations, and provide feedback regarding next steps when the Campus Coordinator is working with the ARD Committee on consideration for Change of Placement
Professionalism - Maintain professionalism at all times
- Be on time and present at Leadership Connections, Coordinator Connections, Services & Campus Support Connections
- Operate in alignment with district, state, and federal guidelines
- Utilize the Special Education Manuals to obtain information (instructional, behavioral, procedural), and to update expectations/procedures/ instructional practices
- Maintain composure at all times
- Function within timelines to accomplish the task
