What's Required
In the case of the child whose behavior impedes the child's learning or that of others, the admission, review and dismissal (ARD) committee must consider the use of positive behavioral interventions and supports and other strategies to address that behavior (CFR 300.324(a)(2)(i) and 20 USC 1414(d)(3)(B)(i)).
What We Do
When a child does not make adequate positive behavioral progress through the Behavior RtI process and the student is in Tier 2 Behavior RtI behavior support a Behavior Specialist can be requested. Behavior Support will follow the Behavior RtI process below. During this time staff will thoroughly document problematic behaviors using RtI data collection forms.
For students who do not have a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) (General Education or Special Education)
1. The Campus RtI Coordinator will complete the Behavior Specialist Consultation Request form, and follow the Behavior RtI process while continuing to thoroughly document problematic behaviors. The completed Behavior Specialist Consultation Request Form (will be kept in the child’s RtI folder). 2. The Campus RtI Coordinator will contact the Behavior Specialist assigned to the campus for a review of the student’s RtI folder to schedule an observation of the classroom/environment in which the behaviors occur to determine if there is sufficient data to warrant RtI Tier 2 placement. 3. The Behavior Specialist will draft recommendations designed to assist the teacher/staff in meeting the individual needs of the child and he/she will provide specific strategies to maximize the child’s school performance and forward recommendation to the RtI Coordinator. 4. The Behavior Specialist will remain involved in the Behavior RtI process in Tier 2 and Tier 3, following guidelines for data collection and timelines as discussed in Spring Independent School District’s Response to Intervention Manual.
For Special Education student who already have a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) in place but not for behaviors displayed.

IEP team will utilize the FBA to develop a new Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). For student who HAS been identified with a behavioral condition and a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is in place for the behaviors displayed but it is NOT currently effective.1.
